Aurum Académico Multidisciplinary Journal in Education acknowledges the growing integration of artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI systems and large language models, into research, academic writing, and scholarly communication. To safeguard scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and the credibility of academic publishing, the journal establishes clear guidelines for the ethical, responsible, and transparent use of these technologies by authors, reviewers, and editors.
The use of artificial intelligence tools does not replace human responsibility under any circumstances. Authors, reviewers, and members of the editorial team remain fully accountable for the content they produce, the evaluations they conduct, and the editorial decisions they make throughout the publication process.
For Authors
Authors may use artificial intelligence tools only for legitimate and limited purposes, such as language editing, grammar correction, style improvement, formatting assistance, or enhancing the clarity of a manuscript. Whenever AI is used beyond basic editorial assistance, its use must be explicitly disclosed within the manuscript, preferably in the Acknowledgements section or through a dedicated transparency statement.
Authors are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy, coherence, originality, and validity of all AI-assisted or AI-generated content. The use of these technologies does not exempt authors from responsibility for errors, inaccurate information, fabricated statements, non-existent references, relevant omissions, or inappropriate citation practices.
Artificial intelligence tools do not meet the criteria for academic authorship and therefore must not be listed as authors or co-authors of any manuscript. Intellectual, ethical, and scientific responsibility belongs exclusively to the human authors.
The inclusion of fabricated references, manipulated data, altered images, or AI-generated research results is strictly prohibited. Authors must ensure that all cited sources are authentic, verifiable, and properly referenced. Likewise, AI tools should not be cited as primary scientific sources.
When artificial intelligence is used for data analysis, image generation, simulations, model development, figure preparation, or other substantial research activities, its use must be clearly described in the Methodology section, providing sufficient information to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
Failure to disclose the use of AI or the inappropriate use of AI technologies that compromises scientific integrity may be considered a serious breach of publication ethics and may result in manuscript rejection, publication of corrections, or article retraction.
For Reviewers and Editors
Reviewers and editors should not use generative artificial intelligence tools to draft or substantially prepare peer review reports, editorial evaluations, or publication decisions. This restriction aims to protect manuscript confidentiality, prevent the unauthorized processing of sensitive information, and preserve the academic rigor of the editorial process.
AI may be used only as limited assistance for grammar or language correction of reviewers' or editors' own comments, provided that no confidential manuscript information is uploaded to external systems and that such use does not replace independent human judgment.
Editorial decisions must always be based exclusively on human academic evaluation, supported by disciplinary expertise, professional ethics, and critical analysis of the submitted work. Automated tools must never replace or automate editorial decision-making.
Use of Automated Tools by the Journal
The journal may employ automated tools for administrative purposes and to safeguard scientific integrity, including text similarity detection systems, reference verification, and image analysis tools. These technologies operate under human supervision, and their results are carefully assessed by the editorial team.
The use of such tools is complementary and does not replace editorial judgment. Any concerns identified through these systems will be evaluated contextually and on a case-by-case basis, ensuring that authors have the opportunity to provide explanations whenever appropriate.
Alignment with International Standards
This policy is aligned with internationally recognized recommendations for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing, promoting the principles of transparency, human accountability, authorship integrity, and responsible disclosure of AI use in academic research.
The journal will periodically review and update this policy to reflect technological developments and evolving international editorial best practices.
